Great Reasons to Use the Portal

  • Medication refill requests

  • Questions about recent test results

  • Updates after a recent visit

  • Brief follow-up questions related to a recent appointment

  • Administrative questions (forms, referrals, scheduling, etc.)

When the Portal Is Not the Best Option

Please do not use the portal for urgent or emergency concerns. If you are experiencing concerning or worsening symptoms, chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe pain, signs of stroke, or any other emergency, call 911 or seek emergency medical care immediately.

New or changing symptoms are usually best evaluated during an office or telemedicine visit. The portal is not intended to replace a medical evaluation.

How Portal Messages Work

Portal messages are not the same as sending an email directly to your provider. Messages are reviewed by members of your healthcare team to help ensure the most timely and appropriate response.

Depending on your question, you may receive a response from a medical assistant, triage nurse, or another member of your care team working closely with your provider. They are often able to answer questions, gather additional information, coordinate your care, or schedule a visit when needed.

If your concern is very personal, sensitive, or complex, an office or telemedicine visit is often the best way to discuss it with your provider.

What to Expect

  • Please allow up to 48 business hours for a response.

  • Messages are reviewed during normal business hours and are not monitored 24/7.

  • Sending multiple messages about the same concern can delay care for everyone. If you've already sent a message, please wait for our response before sending another.

  • If you need to add information, replying within the existing message thread is preferred rather than starting a new conversation.

Keep Messages Brief

The portal works best for short, straightforward questions.

If your message is longer than a single portal message, includes multiple concerns, or requires detailed medical advice, we'll likely recommend scheduling an office or telemedicine visit. This allows your provider the time needed to fully evaluate your concerns and develop the best treatment plan.

MFM Health’s Commitment to You

We are committed to providing timely, thoughtful care through the portal whenever appropriate. Some medical questions require the time, discussion, and examination that can only happen during a scheduled visit. Using the portal appropriately helps us provide safe, efficient, and high-quality care for all of our patients.

Remember: The patient portal is designed to complement, not replace, your relationship with your healthcare team. When a concern requires medical decision-making, a physical examination, or an in-depth discussion, scheduling a visit allows us to give you the time and attention you deserve.

Thank you for partnering with us to make communication as effective as possible.
